Doha, Qatar — Africa Tech Radio (ATR) has reinforced its role as a leading connector within Africa’s technology ecosystem by hosting AfriConnect Doha, a curated ecosystem gathering held alongside Web Summit Qatar.
Now in its second year, AfriConnect Doha (which was held on Feb 3, 2026 at the Pullman Doha, West Bay) brought together founders, investors, policymakers, financial institutions, media leaders, and ecosystem builders to engage in focused conversations on Africa’s place in the global digital economy.
The gathering, which was in partnership with Tech Connect Africa and the Cabo Verde Ministry of Digital Economy, created space for deeper dialogue beyond the main conference — enabling collaboration across policy, capital, talent development, and innovation.

A highlight of the event was a fireside conversation featuring Pedro Lopes, Secretary of State for the Digital Economy of Cabo Verde, who shared insights on international tech collaboration, small-state digital strategy, and lessons from Web Summit participation. The session reflected AfriConnect’s emphasis on substance, governance, and long-term ecosystem thinking.
Africa Tech Radio’s presence at Web Summit Qatar extended beyond event hosting, with on-ground interviews and engagements that amplified African perspectives on global technology trends. Through AfriConnect Doha, ATR demonstrated its growing role as a bridge between African tech ecosystems and international stakeholders.

Speaking after the event, ATR’s Station Manager, Anthony Ibe, emphasized that AfriConnect is not a standalone gathering, but part of an ongoing effort to strengthen Africa’s visibility, influence, and collaboration within global technology spaces.

Africa Tech Radio remains committed to telling Africa’s technology stories, convening critical conversations, and enabling partnerships that move the ecosystem forward.
