WOYM Ep 26: The MKO Story: A Special Conversation with “MKO” Director Ose Oyamendan
What really happened on June 12, 1993 in Nigeria?
In this episode, we unpack how selfish interests derailed a rare opportunity for Nigerian democracy and how those historical events planted the seeds for today’s political dysfunction.
Featuring an exclusive discussion with the film’s director and producer, Ose Oyamendan, this is an episode every Nigerian history enthusiast should not miss.
If we had prevented Abacha from becoming head of state after the 1993 election, would Nigeria be in a better place today?
This week on the podcast, we use the “MKO” documentary as a starting point to explore the deep roots of our political dysfunction.
We discuss the impunity of our leaders, how the military injected money into our politics, and why the right to vote means nothing without basic security and infrastructure.
