Tomatoes account for nearly one fifth of Nigeria’s vegetable consumption and Nigeria rightly is the largest producer of tomatoes in sub Saharan Africa.
Despite this, Nigeria is the 3rd largest importer of tomato paste in Africa and this, according to a 2017 estimate, cost her about $360m annually. There is a business case to produce tomato paste in Nigeria for Nigeria.
