Charles Igah

Charles Igah is a seasoned Data Scientist with many years of experience working in academia and industry. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Benin, Nigeria, and a master’s degree in Data Science from IU International University of Applied Sciences, Germany. Charles Igah currently works as a lecturer at Pan Atlantic University, Lagos. Where he gives lectures on courses like Data Science, Conversational AI, Natural Language Processing and Discreet Mathematics. He is also a data science consultant for Teksight Edge Ltd, a technology PR company that specialises in decision-making and the incorporation of data-driven approaches into the company’s procedures. In a bid to encourage more people to pursue a career in Data Science and STEM, Charles Igah has collaborated with several non-profit organizations to host workshops and boot camps. These events are aimed at training students and professionals in data science and Artificial Intelligence. He has also helped many become professionals in the field through his mentorship.


Lavina Ramkissoon

A true icon and trailblazer standing for the unification of the African tech space, Lavina is a conscious tech proponent with expertise in strategy, technology and psychology and their integration into AI, blockchain and ethics. She serves as chairperson, director and founder across multiple industries, sectors and technologies – aiming to unlock the potential of the African AI arena; humanising technology and actively serving as a growth enabler for tech talent. Lavina Ramkissoon is currently the Chairperson of the Board at Fintech Association of South Africa and Co-Founder and Director at Fintech Association of South Africa. Her passion to unlock and be the consciousness for Africa’s in fields of Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies is evident in her contributions to this report. Her three foundational blocks include economics, technology, psychology which expand into data commoditization, dark data, ethics while developing skills to humanize technology. Denis Pastory Rubanga

Dr. Denis is data science, data strategist, and Innovation Technology Consultant passionate about helping leaders integrate data-driven technology and strategy into their businesses and organizations. He is at the forefront of leading the integration of Emerging Technologies in technical programs, and technological policies in emerging markets for socioeconomic transformation in mission-driven industries that impact millions of people. With extensive experience working as a research scientist, machine learning/Artificial Intelligence consultant, and technical advisor across several industries – with a mission to accelerate significant digital transformation in business with social impact on low-resource and marginalized communities – across Japan to Sub-Sahara Africa. He is keen on innovative emerging markets and problem-solving, a see-through capability that has been witnessed in A.I, geospatial, emerging technology, and agri-tech and their integration into Agriculture, Environment, Climate, Rural Community, and responsible AI. Dr. Denis holds a Ph.D. in Engineering, MSc in Agribusiness Management, and a BSc in International Agriculture and Food Studies from the Tokyo University of Agriculture in Japan. A true activist serving as a team lead, and mentor for tech innovations in health, agriculture, climate, biotechnology, the-future-for-work.


Kingsley Owadara

Kingsley Owadara is a passionate advocate for Responsible AI and AI Ethics in Africa. He believes that Artificial Intelligence should be developed and deployed for common good by considering the factors that make them ethical and socially responsible. Having a background in Law and Computer Engineering, Kingsley has a deep understanding of the potential Impacts of AI on Individuals, communities, and the environment with a special focus on Africa. Kingsley’s experience cut across academia, industry, and NGO. Currently a Tech Policy and Research Fellow at the Emerging Technology for Emerging Markets. He is also the Team Lead of Nigeria’s National Artificial Intelligence Policy Development, General Cluster where he works with a group of Volunteer experts in developing the first Artificial Intelligence policy for Nigeria. Part of his contributions to the African Responsible AI in recent times both in the Academia and industry includes:
