Is Renewable Energy The Cheapest In Africa too?

An intergovernmental organisation which supports countries in their transition to a sustainable energy future, The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), recently revealed that renewables are now a lot cheaper and can considerably compete with the cost of other energy sources

According to statistics from the World bank, over 625 million people in Africa still lack access to electricity. Africa faces an enormous energy challenge and its growing population and economic progress has increased the demand for energy.

Considering the immediate costs of energy across Africa, renewable energy may not be cheapest in Africa but listen to Climate Activist Chiagozie Udeh who argues that given the effects of climate change and how devastating it is on the continent, Renewables are the cheapest source of energy and calls for a rapid increase in supply on the continent.
