In a conversation on the challenges facing the logistics and shipping industry in Africa, Valentine Buchi, CEO of ShipAfrica.io, shared his insights with Lilian Abirika, the host of the Tek Talk Podcast on Africa Tech Radio.
Buchi highlighted that while Africa is often celebrated as the world’s fastest-growing economy, the logistics sector faces significant setbacks – “One major issue is the inadequate adoption of technology, with many companies still relying on manual processes for tracking, inventory management, and route optimisation.”
To address this, ShipAfrica.io is developing a user-friendly platform called “3P.O. Connects” tailored for third-party logistics providers, which will offer dedicated websites for logistics providers, enabling seamless customer experiences and real-time shipment tracking.”
Security concerns with valuable shipments and high transportation costs due to fluctuating currency rates were other challenges that ShipAfrica.io’s CEO, Buchi Valentine, highlighted as significant challenges facing logistics in Africa.
For startups and companies in the logistics sector on the continent, Buchi emphasized the importance of offering competitive rates to customers, thereby making logistics more accessible and affordable.
Meanwhile, Buchi sees logistics as a booming business in Africa, attracting investors and playing a pivotal role in the continent’s growth.
